Hi, I'm Mel – Photographer, Artist, and Storyteller
Based in Midland, Michigan

Photography has been my lifelong passion. Since picking up a camera in my early teens, I’ve spent over 30 years capturing the beauty, emotion, and authenticity of life through timeless portraiture. Whether it's the joyful chaos of a young family, the quiet strength of a high school senior, or the sweet bond between siblings, my heart is in creating art that tells your story—images that will be treasured for generations.

I’m originally from Australia, and my journey has taken me across the globe—from the beaches of Australia, to the stunning landscapes of Norway (where my two boys were born), and now to the charming town of Midland, Michigan. Each place holds a special part of my heart, and all three feel like home.

Family means everything to me. I'm so grateful for my wonderful husband, our two boys, and our two lovable dogs. When I'm not behind the camera, you’ll find me spending time with them—skiing, hiking, kayaking, or just enjoying the simple moments.

In addition to photography, I’m also a teaching artist with Michigan Arts Access, working with students with disabilities both at Artreach and in local schools. This work brings me so much joy and inspiration—it reminds me every day of the power of creativity and connection.

What I love most about being a photographer is the people I meet and the stories I get to be part of. It’s a gift to witness and preserve your most meaningful moments, and I’m honored every time a family trusts me with that.
